Introduction to Sustainable Farming Practices

This meeting introduces participants to sustainable farming practices that support healthy crops, efficient resource use, and long-term farm productivity. Participants will explore growing basics, plant maintenance, soil health, cover crops, farm equipment, irrigation, and other practical practices through a farm tour and hands-on learning.
USDA Farm Service Agency: Reimbursement Transportation Cost Program (RTCP)

The Reimbursement Transportation Cost Program (RTCP) aims to reimburse producers for a portion of the cost to transport agricultural commodities or inputs used to produce an agricultural commodity. Eligible commodities include aquaculture, feed, fiber, floriculture, horticulture (including trees), insects of products and livestock. Join us to learn more and to have all your questions answered. Deadline to apply for RTCP is 9/30.
USDA Farm Service Agency: Step by Step Guide on How to Apply for USDA FSA Farm Loans

Farm Structures: Design, Implementation and Use

This training introduces participants to the design, installation, and practical use of essential farm structures. Participants will gain hands-on experience with structures such as hoop houses and trellising systems while learning how to select, construct and maintain structures that support efficient crop production.
Budgeting and Record Keeping for Farmers

This training introduces participants to practical financial management for agricultural operations. Participants will learn how to track farm income and expenses, maintain accurate records, develop farm budgets, and use financial information to support informed business decisions.
Taxes for Farmers

This training provides an overview of tax responsibilities for farmers and agricultural businesses. Participants will learn about organizing financial records for tax purposes, identifying common farm-related deductions and expenses, and preparing for annual tax filing and reporting requirements.
Plant Health and Pest Management

8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Guam Department of Agriculture (across the street from main office)
This training introduces participants to identifying and managing common pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies on Guam that affect crop health. Participants will learn preventative and natural management methods, appropriate pesticide selection and application and best practices for selecting and germinating healthy seeds.
