Ladies of Farm to Table

Check out our interview with Pika Fejeran from Pika’s Cafe as she tours our CSA farm at Department of Agriculture!

Buy local. Eat local. Support local.

This grassroots movement has evolved during the past few years, with the goal being that members of the community come together and support one another.  There are many ways you can contribute. Instead of buying a gift, product, or food that is being commercially made elsewhere (likely low-paying labor markets), why not support your local business owners, producers, and artists? Your patronizing night markets, farmers markets, and flea markets contributes to locally sustainable markets and less dependence on imports.

The next time you visit a restaurant, pay attention to their menu, as it may reveal they support local ingredients whenever it is possible. If it isn’t written, just ask! Pika’s Cafe is a good example of supporting local. They strive to purchase fresh produce whenever it’s available from our local farmers. They take that produce directly from the farm, and put it on the table so their customers can experience fresh, nutritious meals while supporting our farmers at the same time.

Resolve to buy local whenever possible in our community effort to create a sustainable local economy through Guam grown produce.
